Examples of GS-4/FG-4 (Equivalent C Band) Specialized Experience
Performs basic tasks under the close direction of a manager, project/program manager,
team leader, or more experienced employee. Assists managers and other employees
in day-to-day operations, for example:
- Maintains office records.
- Orders supplies for an office.
- Compiles, maintains, and updates data, lists and reports.
- Drafts routine correspondence for manager’s signature.
- Keeps manager’s calendar.
Examples of GS-5/FG-5 (Equivalent D Band) Specialized Experience
Performs basic tasks under the general direction of a manager, project/program manager,
team leader, or more experienced employee. Assists managers and other employees
in day-to-day operations, for example:

Receives visitors and telephone calls to the office determining the nature of requests
before directing callers to appropriate staff.
- Makes transportation and hotel reservations for staff members.
- Maintains time and attendance cards for the office or branch.
- Replies independently to routine correspondence not needing supervisor’s attention.
- Draft replies, which do not require a technical knowledge of the program.
- Assists in collecting data and in preparing reports for higher echelons.
- Acts on routine requests received concerning procedural or administrative requirements.

Prepares medical case files to be used by a Flight Surgeon or medical staff in conducting
examinations or emergency care.

Drafts administrative responses for the appropriate signature to requests for information
and assistance.

Develops scheduling for required physical examinations in accordance with Federal
Aviation Regulations (FAR’s).
Examples of GS-6/FG-6 (Equivalent D Band) Specialized Experience
Performs routine, multiple and varying tasks under the limited direction of a manager,
project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced employee. Assists
manager(s) and other employees in day-to-day operations, for example:
- Assists office personnel in preparing for conferences, meetings, and seminars.

Drafts administrative responses for the appropriate signature to requests for information
and assistance from technical office personnel.
- Provides logistics support services for the facility.
- Prepares Division-wide reports.
Examples of GS-7/FG-7 (Equivalent E Band) Specialized Experience
Performs basic tasks, under general direction of a manager, project/program manager,
team leader, or more experienced employee, difficult and responsible work in office,
business, or fiscal administration requiring to a considerable extent the exercise
of independent judgment. Assists managers and other employees in day-to-day
operations and may act as a lead for other support staff personnel to coordinate
multiple tasks, for example:
- Serves as an administrative liaison with other offices of the region.

Collects, enters, and maintains data, designs formats for reports, and investigates
system malfunctions.
- Generates and analyzes patient data and prepares reports based on information.
- Maintains appointment calendar of Branch or Division Chief.
- Answers inquiries and furnishes information of a non-technical nature.

Checks outgoing correspondence for procedural and grammatical correctness, presence
of enclosures, and conformance to style.

Establishes and maintains databases, such as budget, training, safety inspections,
business plans, property records, etc.
- Maintains time and attendance cards for the Branch or Division.
